Montsec was the borderland between Christians and Moors in the 10th and 11th centuries. There are castles and watchtowers dotted all over the mountain range. Castell de Mur /strong> is the best conserved of the frontier castles. On the side of the same rock, you’ll find Santa Maria de Mur with its fascinating history, amazing cloister and Romanic images decorating its apse.
